Adding a New Record to the Laurel Mug-shot gallery
It's a simple 5 step program:
Step 1 - read this page
Please read the entire page before proceeding. It will answer some of the
important questions that may come up during the entry procedure.
Step 2 - prepare your photo
The database will only accept photos in the .jpg format. The program is
currently unable to handle .gif, .png, .bmp, et. al. but
that may change if demand warrants. Any photo that you upload will be resized
to fit inside a 200 pixel wide by 300 pixel high box, so the best photo that
you could upload would already have a width to height ration of 2:3. This
photo should be a head and shoulders shot, similar in composition to the
"school photo" of beloved memory. If you simply don't have an image editing
program, just upload what you have and, sooner or later, I'll get around to
downloading it onto my computer and cropping it for you.
Step 3 - have your information on hand
The only non-optional field in the database is your name. All other fields you
may fill in or leave blank, as you wish.
I highly encourage you to fill them out, however, since the information in these
fields is how people may find you using the database search functions. These
fields include:
- Your persona's period/culture - please try to be succinct; I'd prefer "Viking" over
"Merchant of Viking extraction in ca. 1030 Northern Danelaw"
- Your e-mail address (it will be "obfuscated" to thwart spambot harvesters)
- Your ZIP code (it will not be displayed, but I'm looking to a future
function for finding people within n miles of ZIP code x)
- URL addresse(s) for your web page(s)
- Name(s) of your apprentice(s) - and you may put the art that they are
apprenticing to you in by their name, so that folks can search on that info, as
well
Step 4 - enter the record
Proceed to the editor, fill in the boxes, specify
your photo and click on the "Submit form" button.
Step 5 - wait for it to appear on the database
Once you have submitted your information, it goes into a state of limbo...
waiting for the webmaster to look it over, fix possible formatting problems,
etc. before it is "accepted" and appears on-line. For the most part, this is to
ensure uniformity of data presentation, as well as to provide a line of defence
against possible abuse.
Please be aware that if you call up the editor, again, before the information is
approved, it will use the previously approved data as its starting point and you
will lose your previous edits.
